This is a traced and colourised revision of an old piece of art that depicts the true emotional depth of a scene in the original story of Dracula. Arthur Holmwood, the Lord Godalming, is forced to stake the heart of the woman he once loved, Lucy Westenra, for she died by Dracula's bite and is now a vampire herself. Arthur cannot save her life anymore, but he can save her from a fate worse than death.
